What you missed at Pizza My Mind!

Hello Fellow Captains!

Last week’s Pizza My Mind was presented by our very own Faculty and Students from CNU’s Five Year Master’s and NSF REU programs. I am sure you are thinking “why would I want to stay in school?!” Well fortunately there are a variety of benefits to furthering your education beyond your Bachelor’s Degree. Some of these benefits include: higher salary, lower unemployment rate, expand your knowledge (yes learning can be fun), work closely with your favorite faculty member, and just enjoying an academic schedule strictly focused on your area of interest.

Why choose CNU to further your education? CNU is located near many research facilities such as the Jefferson Lab and NASA. Also, CNU has a variety of options/topics that you can chose from to write your master’s thesis on. For example, cyber security, virtual reality, and nuclear physics. Also, earning your masters is a stepping stone towards your PH. D. During the presentation graduate students David Hamblin, Matt McCarthy, Tim Giles, and John Hayhurst shared with us some of their favorite parts of CNU’s program and how they are still involved with campus and would be great resources for any questions you may have!

The applications will become available December 1st for the Bachelor’s to Master’s students (CNU Juniors, only) and July 1st for the applicants applying to the Traditional programs. The deadline to apply to the graduate program per term can be found here! For addition information on the program as a whole, click here! Also, you can email Dr. Heddle (david.heddle@cnu.edu).

The National Scientific Foundation’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates is also another way to get involved with ongoing research. Through this program you can apply to a variety of different locations and research topics and the best part is that it is a paid position!
