Last week Raytheon presented Pizza My Mind for the Physics Computer Science and Engineering department here at Christopher Newport University. Headquartered in Maryland, Raytheon is a large defense contractor in the United States. They work on exciting projects like missile defense, cybersecurity, and mission control just to name a few.
Our presenters, Dave Erickson, Ken Young, Krystal Finch, and Elliot Rieflin, are from the Hampton location. They shared the many great reasons to work at Raytheon. If you’re looking for travel, Raytheon has many opportunities to travel to many different places. They even have jobs in Antarctica! If travel isn’t for you, they also have jobs right here in the Hampton area. Alongside the many locale options, Raytheon offers jobs for all majors and interests. Each project has many different areas, and more than likely there will be a position that fits with everyone’s interests.
Raytheon offers internships for the summer as well as co-ops for during the school year. If you’re graduating they also most likely will have job openings or internship to job paths available. Jobs are opening and closing all the time, so make sure to keep an eye on jobs.raytheon.com for updates. There is a notification feature so you can be the first to know about new jobs.
The presenters shared their experiences in the company and how much they enjoy their jobs. One of the presenters even talked about how they work on projects using pair programming all the time so you aren’t alone on projects. It’s a real thing! So next time you have to pair program in one of your classes, remember that this is useful in the working world.
Thank you to Raytheon for joining us for Pizza My Mind!
